T-Type / T-Pattern / Straight Pattern Globe Valve

A T-Type, T-Pattern, or Straight Pattern Globe Valve refers to the exact same standard two-way globe valve design with different industry naming conventions. It is the most common and traditional globe valve type widely adopted in process, power, oil and gas, and industrial piping systems.
This valve features a straight inline body where the inlet and outlet ports are aligned on a 180° straight pipeline axis, which defines the term Straight Pattern. Meanwhile, the valve stem is vertically perpendicular to the horizontal flow direction, forming a typical T-shaped external body structure, hence the names T-Pattern and T-Type.
Internally, the fluid follows a classic Z-shaped flow path with two 90-degree direction changes across the valve seat and disc. This tortuous flow characteristic creates relatively high pressure drop but provides excellent flow throttling and precise modulation performance. Compared with Y-Pattern globe valves, the T/Straight pattern delivers superior sealing stability and throttling accuracy, making it ideal for frequent flow regulation and positive isolation service.
The T/Straight pattern globe valve is normally designed with OS&Y (Outside Screw and Yoke) structure, bolted bonnet or pressure-seal bonnet, and renewable seat and disc trim. It supports multiple end connections including flanged, butt-weld, socket-weld, and threaded ends to match different pressure classes and piping requirements. Common body materials include WCB, WC6, CF8, CF8M, and forged A105 for high-pressure small-bore applications.
Typical applications: general water, steam, oil, gas, chemical medium isolation, bypass control, and continuous throttling pipelines where precise flow adjustment and reliable tight shutoff are required.

Key Features Summary

•180° inline straight port layout (Straight Pattern)
•Vertical stem perpendicular to pipeline (T-Pattern / T-Type)
•Z-shaped internal flow path with high pressure drop
•Excellent throttling performance and tight shutoff capability
•Universal structure, easy maintenance and wide material adaptability
•Suitable for most general industrial isolating and regulating services

T-Type / T-Pattern / Straight Pattern Globe Valve

- Flow path:Fluid makes two 90° turns, classic **T‑shaped** flow passage
- Resistance:**High flow resistance**, large pressure drop
- Structure:Stem perpendicular to main pipeline; bonnet is inline with vertical stem
- Features
  1. Good shut‑off performance, reliable tight sealing
  2. Medium‑high pressure service, wide temperature range
  3. Not ideal for throttling; prone to cavitation / erosion under heavy throttling
  4. Compact footprint, standard globe valve configuration
- Typical service:General on‑off service, steam, oil‑gas, process piping; where throttling is infrequent

Y‑type globe valve(Y‑pattern  globe valve)

- Flow path:Body cavity arranged at ~45‑60° angle; fluid only one sharp turn, Y‑shaped passage
- Resistance:**Much lower flow resistance**, smaller pressure drop compared with T‑type
- Structure:Bonnet & stem inclined at angle to pipeline axis
- Features
  1. Better flow characteristic, suitable for continuous throttling service
  2. Less turbulence, reduced erosion and cavitation risk
  3. Larger face‑to‑face / installation dimension than T‑type
  4. Still maintains excellent bubble‑tight shut‑off capability
- Typical service:Throttling control, high‑flow process lines, condensate, high‑velocity media, frequent partial‑open operation
